The Band

Chicago based rock group Molehill combines raw energy, catchy hooks, and explosive live performances. Formed in Champaign, IL in 2004 lead singer and guitarist Peter Manhart moved the group to Chicago in 2006. After releasing the debut album Rock & Mole in late 2007 Trevor Jones (bass), Greg Van Zuiden (keys) and Devin Staples (drums) joined the group. Molehill’s sound can best be defined as “rock and roll,” but to compare them to a single band is difficult. Their influences include Spoon, Muse, Hot Hot Heat, Arctic Monkeys, and the Beatles. They have a sound that is both classic and new.

Since the release of Rock & Mole Molehill has toured throughout the Midwest and East Coast. In 2010 they showcased at Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA. Molehill has been featured twice in the Red Eye (Chicago Tribune Pop Publication) once as Pick of the Week for the live shows and for Song of the Week for their song I’m Okay. Molehill has also had feature articles in Clubline Chicago, Buzz S+E Magazine, Buzz Champaign, and the Lake County Journal.

Molehill’s live show is its strength and this is evidenced by the their growing fan base. During a typical live set listeners will be taken from the pop stylings of “Finally, I” to the Zeppelin-like guitar riff of “Money Life” to the dark tale of loneliness in “I’m Okay.” Molehill has performed with the likes of Blind Melon, The Dig, The Photo Atlas, and the Elms. Molehill’s next record is in the works and is slated for a Spring 2011 release.
